praise god (doxology)
When I look back on the history of the church with all its ups and downs I still find a beautiful thread of praise running through the generations. With Praise God (Doxology) we see the iconic piece of liturgy met with the hope of the eternal picture of praising God. It’s fascinating as well that the origin of the word literally calls this the language of glory. It’s putting words to the vastness of the Almighty. Though we will never be able to fully express the glory of God in human words we still can catch a glimpse of what our response will be when we see him face to face. When we decided to add the 3rd verse talking about the coming day of Christ’s return, we found ourselves in a sense giving context for our praise. It’s like all of creation has been stirring with a swell of worship in preparation for the day of victory when we will find ourselves on our knees before the King, entering into a glory filled eternity. So as we sit here in expectation of that day my prayer is that our hearts will always come back to a place of adoration and worship of Jesus.
“It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ””
Romans 14:11 NIV
